Good local action
The Blackmouth (juvenile King Salmon) fishing continues to be good for local "winter Kings" up to 10 lbs in Shilshole Bay, Kingston and Possesion Bar. Friday 2 anglers landed 3 keeper Blackmouth 4 to 6 lbs and released countless Salmon under the 22" size limit. Sat 6 boys landed 7 keepers 4 to 7 lbs and had plenty of other action from smaller salmon. Sunday 5 anglers landed 5 Blackmouth over the 22" size limit and at least 15 fish under the size limit.

Very good action
We finaly had a good day of weather and a good day of winter Blackmouth (juvenile King/Chinook Salmon) fishing today when we had two anglers who landed 11 small Blackmouth averaging 20 inches in length, the largest was 25 inches and 6 lbs and we had 9 little 12" Coho salmon we released. There were a couple more larger fish lost or missed. Though most of the fish were not very big we had the best action in weeks and even a 20 inch fish can put up a fight. We still have some limited availablillity left around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Slow to Fair
The fishing has been so tough for the last couple of weeks I have not been inclined to post any reports. Some trips have been cancelled due to high winds and when it has been calm enough to fish the fishing has been slow. We have been averaging 1 to 2 keeper salmon for 3 anglers over the last few trips and a half dozen smaller salmon released. A keeper Salmon now is a Chinook Salmon over 22" in length (Winter Blackmouth) , a Chum Salmon or a late Coho. Most action is from Chinook this time of year. Look for fishing to improve into the holidays as these "Winter Blackmouth" tend to heat up in cycles throughout the winter.

Silvers Getting Bigger
After an an unprecedented run of Pink Salmon returning to the Duwamish River this August in Seattle, we are now seeing some decent numbers of Coho Salmon (Silvers)starting to show. The run is late and does not seem to be at full strength yet but we are averaging 6 or 7 nice Silvers landed for 4 or 5 fishers. We are also landing a few late King Salmon and seeing quite a few early Winter King Salmon. On Thursday the Cole Party from Arkansas finally landed a limit of 8 nice Coho 4 to 10 lbs after 18 strikes! I expect the Coho run to strengthen into October and fade by mid-October. Winter King Salmon Fishing opens October 16th and will stay be open in some area until April 15th. Look for some hard fighting Chum Salmon to come into the mix in October and November. Pictured is 20 Pinks and 6 Coho from August 22nd and a nice Coho for Nick A of Seattle on Sept 12.

Resident Coho Plentifull
The fishing has really picked up this last couple of weeks for these resident Coho Salmon. They are smaller than the adults that show in August and September but there are plenty to go around averaging 3 to 5 lbs. here is a limit of 14 bagged before 10 am. that has been the norm the last few days.

Good Salmon fishing
This has been a fun week playing catch and release with mostly Chinook Salmon and a few Coho Salmon. The Chinook we call Kings when they are adults and Blackmouth as juveniles. Begining July 1st we can start keeping the Coho or Pink salmon in Area 10 where we are fishing now.
Today we landed Kings and Blackmouth of 15 lbs, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, and 4 lbs, about eight 2 lb fish and a couple of Coho. We should be able to produce more Coho when we really target them after we can keep them beggining July 1st.
